“My deal was, I didn’t think I could go on a legitimate date till I had a car. Turning sixteen was that critical point in a boy’s life. Prior to sixteen you’re nothing—you have a bicycle. You’re not gonna have your parents take you on a date. So the day I turned sixteen, I got my license and we went on our first date. So that was pretty spectacular.”
